Pittsburgh Dynamo Claim Golden Goal Thriller to Cap Competitive GPSL CoEd Summer 2026 Season

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Greater Pittsburgh Soccer League’s (GPSL) CoEd Division wrapped up its 2026 summer season with a dramatic extra-time final, as Pittsburgh Dynamo edged Lucky Strikes FC 2-1 in extra time to claim their first league championship in three years.

The eight-team league played a 42-game schedule from May through August across four venues: Brentwood High School stadium, Schenley Oval, Montour Junction, and La Roche College. The field featured seven returning clubs alongside newcomer Agents of Destruction, captained by Hunter Gibson in the team’s debut campaign.

Regular Season

Dynamo topped the regular-season standings, holding off the field by the narrowest of margins on the final day of play. Lucky Strikes, Iron City FC, and North United OG rounded out the top four, followed by Yama Sushi and Jugadoras in fifth and sixth. Agents of Destruction finished seventh in their first season in the league.

Semifinals

Both semifinal matches were decided by a single goal, setting the stage for a tightly contested postseason. Dynamo and Lucky Strikes each advanced to the final, in what became a rematch of the 2025 championship match played at Hamilton Park.

The Final

Played over the traditional 90 minutes at Schenley Oval, the championship match lived up to the season’s competitive standard.

The first half ended scoreless, with play evenly split between the two sides. Dynamo held a slight edge in possession, but Lucky Strikes goalkeeper Madisyn Neundorfer kept her side level with a string of key saves to preserve the clean sheet.

Lucky Strikes came out of the break in control. In the 68th minute, Alex Bilka — who would go on to earn Player of the Match honors — broke the deadlock with a curling long-range strike that beat Dynamo goalkeeper Mackenzie Nelson-Beľskaya to the far corner, out of the diving keeper’s reach. Lucky Strikes controlled the run of play from there, limiting Dynamo to sporadic chances as the clock wound down.

Dynamo would not go quietly. In the 89th minute, Matt Teitelbaum found the equalizer, leveling the match at 1-1 and forcing extra time.

The decisive moment came early in the first period of extra time, when a ricocheted free kick fell to Richard Jánošík, who slotted the ball past a diving Neundorfer for the golden goal — sealing a 2-1 victory and Dynamo’s first championship in three years.

Looking Ahead

The GPSL CoEd Division will turn the page quickly. For the first time in a decade, the league will run a fall season, a nine-week campaign on Thursdays beginning September 10, 2026.
